Summary of the House Committee Version of the Bill

SB 423, HCA 1 -- MEMORIAL HIGHWAYS

SPONSOR:  Childers (Wood)

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on
Transportation and Motor Vehicles by a vote of 20 to 0.

This bill designates a portion of Highway 65 in Taney County from
Highway 265 south to the Arkansas border as the "Trooper Jimmie
Linegar Memorial Highway."

HCA 1 -- Designates the portion of State Route 19 from New
London, southwest to its intersection with State Route 154, then
west to Perry, as "The Short Line Railroad Spur Historic Trail."

FISCAL NOTE:  Net Estimated Cost to Highway Fund of $1,266 in FY
2004, $0 in FY 2005, and $0 in FY 2006.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say this will be a fitting memorial for
the officer who gave his life to protect the public.

Testifying for the bill were Senator Childers; Missouri State
Troopers Association; and State Highway Patrol.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
